All Black Everything

Winter is coming (YES!) and in my little black books that only means one thing; it's time to dress in all black everything. Cooler weather, rain and wind equals more layers, warmer clothing and darker shades. I own so much black, but it can never be enough. Snape and I have something in common, we both like to wear black all of the time. Oh, and he's a badass.

You don't seem convinced, (unless you are convinced, but I wouldn't know so I'm going with the fact you aren't so I can post cool pictures of cool people looking cool in black okay), so here are some pictures to prove that black is timeless and the kewlest. Period.

How can you not love that face.

A NEW CHAPTER

Hello there. Yes, you. I haven't talked to you in a while.

Guess what? I have some exciting news. Two weeks ago, I graduated university. After 2 years of pre-school, 8 years of primary school, 5 years of high-school and 4 years of university, I am officially finished. Done and dusted.

'How do you feel! What next!' I hear you scream. Well my friend, that is an excellent question. I feel excited (more so that I never have to write an assignment ever again), nervous (because I am apparently a real human being now who needs to find a real job) and a little bit old (I think that one is self explanatory). There are so many things I want to do before then though, and I'm not quite sure how to tackle them. You know what though, none of that matters right now because I HAVE GRADUATED. YEAH.

Childhood Charm

I have been noticing the 'trends to try' as of late all seem to be bringing back some serious 90's nostalgia. From tartan and leather, to plaid and matching twin sets, clothing from my childhood is making a comeback.

I'm sure you all remember Cher from the 90's hit Clueless; who often rocked a matching tartan skirt and matching top? Yeah that's right, the hot blonde who played a completely dim-witted but completely adorable, fashion forward (of the time) character, has become a style icon of 2014.

I will leave you with some images of my favourite 90's nostalgia pieces, just to prove how trendy tartan is once more.

Inspiration

In the lead up months toward winter, I have been obsessing over coats of duffel nature. Although my collection of coats at the moment is more than excessive, it would be pretty nice to see some of these bad boys sitting in my closet.

Plaid, leather, and fury numbers seem to be trending among the likes of all my favourite international bloggers (and at the top of my wish list).

2014, what?

Yo, universe, how are you?

Just thought I'd ask because I feel like I haven't had time to sit back and enjoy everything you have had on offer lately. Firstly, we are somehow already in the second-almost-third month of 2014, and here I am thinking that 2013 was last week (or something like that). Seriously though, were has all the time gone?

I'll start and finish this post like any other New Year post should, with a 10 resolutions that I would like to achieve over the course of the year. I mean, everybody loves a good resolution, right?

1. Be a better person.
I like to think that I am already a pretty great person, but there's always room for improvement.

2. Improve health and fitness.

3. Worry less.

4. Work harder.

5. Use less technology, and spend more time appreciating the little things in life.

6. Learn to surf.

7. Get motivated.

8. Give more.

9. Travel more.

10. Live fearlessly, without regret.

BLISS

When you are young, your parents and family members alert you that you won't know yourself until you reach a certain level of maturity and self actualisation. I always thought that this was silly. As a child I never understood that you couldn't ''know yourself'' because, well, how can you not? You are you, and no-one else knows what you feel like or think about 100% of the time. Recently, I have come to realise exactly what those wise ones were talking about. I believe that I am finally falling into my own personally designed, individual spot in the world, and I know that things will become easier from here on in.

I am not entirely sure about everyone else, but as a teenager I always had a sense of longing. No-matter how hard I tried at school, how many new people I would meet, or how many different phases I went through, it was always there, whether I knew it at the time or not. Recently, I have begun to realise what sort of person I actually am and what direction I am heading through in the maze that we call life. In the last few months especially, I have been alerted to the smaller things in life, and how one little change in ones behavior or actions can make all the difference. Lately, I have been trying to surround myself with things that make me happy, not anyone else, just me. No matter how much I am judged, whether it be good or bad, I have learnt that I can't always put other's needs before my own. To move toward that feeling of self actualisation, I have been learning, very slowly, that some people are just not worth my time. The people that surround me currently each have there place, and all make me incredibly happy to be around.

The feeling that the wise owls from my youth were trying to describe to me, I believe is an ulitmate feeling of happiness, which can be found in every aspect of your life. I like to think that I am slowly but surely working towards this, and sometimes I just get it. Get what you ask? The feeling of ultimate happiness, that nothing can tear me down, that I am a whole.

This may seem incredibly contentious, or corny, or even lame for that matter... But those who know the feeling I am talking about, will understand this completely.
